After Care
After deep cleaning, you may have pain for a day or two and teeth sensitivity for up to a week. Your gums also may be swollen, feel tender and bleed.
It is advised to go on a soft food diet for several days after having your teeth deep cleaned as your gums will be tender. Avoiding cold food or drinks is recommended due to heightened sensitivity and discomfort.
A follow-up appointment after the deep teeth cleaning process is required to check on your healing progress and the improvement of hygiene habits; our dentists may also advise that you get standard teeth cleanings every 3-4 months instead of the normal 6 months after your initial deep teeth cleaning.
Our dentists will provide you a tailored treatment plan for gum disease control. Meanwhile, good dental care at home is essential to help keep gum disease from becoming more serious or recurring. Brushing your teeth twice a day with a soft brush, cleaning between your teeth daily with an interproximal dental brush, eating a balanced diet, avoiding the use tobacco and visiting your dentist regularly can help prevent the progression of gum disease.
